{4} Mountains

*1) Today I began my move out west to Washington for grad school! As excited as I am about moving, I’m not so excited about another full day of driving tomorrow.

*2) Crossed through the Cascades today and wow were they gorgeous! Even despite it being a bit hazy due to forest fire smoke from up north.

*3) All I have to say after today is woooooof. It was a long day of buying shit for my apartment, unloading everything and unpacking everything else that I brought. And from the sounds of it the smoke isn’t going to clear up until the end of this week, so until then I won’t be seeing views like the one in this superb landscape painting by one of the best, Mr. Robert Barker.

*4) Unfortunately I didn’t get around to posting yesterday :( it’s been a busy time unpacking and getting everything organized in my apartment. It’s finally coming together though! I’ll continue the mountain series tonight with a double post.

*5) Now that I’m all moved in, I’m planning on adopting a cat from the local humane society in the next few weeks to have as a companion in this new environment I find myself in. Expect a cat-inspired series when that happens.

*7) I’ve only been living here for a few days, but I’ve already fallen in love with Washington. Coming from the flat plains of Nebraska, I don’t think I’ll ever take for granted this temperate weather, being surrounded by vegetation, and views of mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
