Juneteenth

For far too long, the remaining slaves located in Texas did not come to realize their freedom given to them years earlier. What a tragedy it is for unnecessary suffering and oppression to be continued in such a way.

And still to this day, it’s a tragedy that we as a country (and world) struggle to free ourselves from racist ideologies and tendencies—forms of oppression more subtle than ownership, but no less cruel.
