Debate Night Debacle
Tonight especially, I felt it more tangibly than any time before that our country is slipping into authoritarianism. And it feels weird to say that and to have felt so strongly in that way on the night of a useless, unproductive debate.

Trump has been such a negatively impactful force—brute force—in our country's politics (world's?) that our divisiveness now lacks general respect and trustworthiness. The utter absence of respect showed tonight by Trump toward Biden was a spectacle in the most ashamed definition.

I believe myself to be an optimist, but I'd be lying if I didn't feel fear also.
