Damaging Day

This photo, from Trump's inauguration, shows people at peace. But one year ago, at this same location—our nation's capitol—peaceful, it was not.

It was a black-and-white day, January 6th, 2021. Some believed the recently concluded election of Joe Biden as president-elect was legitimate, and should be certified as such. Some others did not believe this, and challenged not just the legitimacy of an election but, also, the legitimate proceedings put into place by our constitution for settling the matter.

There was damage—structural, physical and mental, moral and political. But despite the day's damage, a nation remained.
